VISITOR VISA INQUIRIES
Members of Parliament have been inundated for letters of support to bring in friends and relatives. Embassy and Consular staff recognize that Members have little or no knowledge of the people whom they are writing to support and consequently, it has rendered these letters of little to no value. In addition, it is highly unusual for a visa to be denied as a result of the sponsor. To ensure the best chance for a potential visitor to obtain a visa to Canada, it is imperative their information be detailed and complete. You, as the inviter, are encouraged to ensure your potential visitor reviews what is required at the following site:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/letter.asp
DENIED VISAS
We are unable to track the specific details of your denied visa. If you are unclear as to why a visa was denied, you may use the Access to Information & Privacy (ATIP) Program available at:
http://canada.justice.gc.ca/atip-aiprp/home-accueil-eng.asp
This site has all the papers you need to file a request on your issue, as well as a list of the ATIP Co-ordinators and their specific departments. You are also encouraged to follow the instructions at the Citizenship and Immigration website that outlines what the letter of invitation and application should contain. This can be found at:
