“Thank you. I'm very pleased to be here to represent the Government of Canada and as a Member of the Board of the Calgary Homeless Foundation.
I want to let you know that Calgary's leadership -- as the first city in Canada to draft a 10 Year Plan – has been noticed across Canada.
Not only did Calgary draft the first 10 Year Plan, but we’re getting results.
Following our leadership, 11 other Canadian cities have now drafted 10 Year Plans.
I'm also aware that there are discussions to create a nation-wide alliance to end homelessness, similar to the model in the United States.
There is renewed momentum, not just in Calgary, but across Canada, to end homelessness. It will be done.
These are exciting times and The Government of Canada is pleased to support these great efforts.
As a Board Member and Member of Parliament for Calgary Centre, I'm proud this movement started here, in Calgary, – a community that truly pulls together to get things done.”
