Among his  Parliamentary duties,  Lee Richardson is the Chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on  International Trade.
Recently the Committee has been focused on Free Trade Agreements, and studying relations with the US and European Union.  Of late, Lee tabled the  ‘Canada-US Agreement on Government Procurement’ report in the House of Commons which facilitates Canadian Companies bidding on US Government contracts.
The Government has recently concluded free trade agreements with; Panama, Jordan, Peru, EFTA (European Free Trade Association) and Colombia and are pursuing similar deals with; India, China, Ukraine, Morocco, EU (European Union), Dominican Republic, Korea and Singapore.  For more information on Canada’s efforts to expand market go to: www.international.gc.ca.

The Montreal Gazette recently published an article about the rampant dysfunction among most House Committees while pointing out two exceptions, the Finance Committee and the International Trade Committee stating that; “The International Trade Committee, under the genial chair of Conservative Lee Richardson, is a collegial exception to the toxic tone of most House committees.”
