Improving Canadians Financial Literacy
February 12, 2011

The Task Force on Financial Literacy recently released a report, entitled ‘Canadians and Their Money,’ which makes recommendations for a cohesive national strategy to support initiatives across Canada aimed at improving financial literacy for all Canadians.

During the fragile economic recovery, it is important to ensure Canadian families have the tools and knowledge to take charge of their personal finances.

In Canada’s Economic Action Plan, we announced that we would name an independent task force to develop a cohesive national strategy to improve financial literacy.

Our government has brought together some of the best and brightest minds from business, education, volunteer organizations, and the media, to serve their country on this task force.

Our government recently received the report of the task force and is now working on implementing its recommendations.

Looking ahead, a Canadian population that is financially literate, informed, and empowered will be key to our long-term prosperity.
