In Budget 2007, we have achieved this by balancing the budget, cutting taxes for working families, investing in priorities like health care, the environment, infrastructure, and restoring fiscal balance by giving provinces the resources they need to deliver the front-line services that matter to Canadians.

The details…

• $1.7 billion over 2 years in additional transfers to Alberta to fund health, education, and infrastructure;
  

• Tax relief for working families and seniors;
  

• Assistance to help 1.2 million low-income Canadians over the “welfare wall”;
  

• $612 million in new funding for patient wait times initiatives;

• $4.5 billion for initiatives to clean and preserve Canada’s environment;
  

• A new Anti-Drug Strategy to crack down on gangs and the drug trade and;
  

• $9.2 billion toward debt reduction;
